The Edo State Government, through the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), has partnered with global health organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF to launch the second round of National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) vaccination exercise.

Dr. Coulson Osoikhia, Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, revealed this in a statement in Benin City.

According to Dr. Osoikhia, the vaccination campaign is scheduled to take place from June 28 to July 3, 2025, targeting children aged 0-5 years.

During this period, vaccination teams will visit homes, schools, churches, mosques, and other community gathering points to administer oral polio vaccines to all eligible children, regardless of their previous immunization status.

The Executive Secretary urged parents and guardians to take the vaccination card of their eligible children to the nearest Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) as polio vaccine and other routine vaccines will be available across the State.

The purpose of the exercise is to immunize all children in the state against polio, and the Edo State Government urges parents and guardians to ensure their children are vaccinated during the campaign.

“The ultimate goal is to keep polio at zero in Edo State, and the government is counting on the cooperation of parents and guardians to achieve this objective.

“By working together, the state aims to ensure that no child is left behind in the fight against polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

“This vaccination exercise is a crucial step in protecting the health and well-being of children in Edo State, and it is expected to make a significant impact in the state’s efforts to eradicate polio,” the statement emphasised.

With the support of WHO, UNICEF, and other development partners, the Edo State Government is committed to protecting the health and well-being of its young citizens.
