The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 37 suspected drug traffickers and recovered 345.421 kilograms of narcotic drugs during operations in June 2025.
Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju, who presented the command’s operational scorecard on Monday in Benin City, said that the arrests, comprising 25 males and 12 females, resulted from routine operations targeting illicit drug activities across Edo communities.
He noted that the arrests were part of intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and tackle substance abuse within the state.
Providing a breakdown of the seized substances, Ofoyeju disclosed that the command recovered 310.485 kilograms of cannabis, 0.3415 kilograms of psychotropic substances, and 0.3175 kilograms of methamphetamine, along with an additional 33.226 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 0.67 kilograms of psychotropic substances, and 0.373 kilograms of methamphetamine.
