OSOGBO: The All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders’ forum in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State has urged party members to shun divisive actions capable of undermining its chances in the August 8, 2026, governorship election.
The appeal is contained in a communiqué issued by the co-conveners of the forum, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye and Mr Tunji Adesokun, and made available on Sunday in Osogbo.
The forum said that if members of the party could work together in unity, the APC candidate, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, would record a landslide victory at the polls.
It called for unity among party faithful ahead of the election, urging members to avoid actions or strategies that could create internal conflicts or splits.
The communiqué described Oyebamiji as a loyal, committed and highly experienced politician, stressing that his victory in the election was non-negotiable if party members remained loyal and committed.
The forum appealed to leaders of the APC at both the state and national levels to work hard to unite all interests and opinions within the party to ensure victory.
“We are approaching a major election, and we must ensure that we go into the poll as a united and cohesive group.
“The choice of Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate has made the task easier, but our leaders at both the state and national levels must still work hard to prevent internal sabotage.
“We, the members of the forum, are in full alignment with the choice of Oyebamiji as our flag bearer, and we will mobilise for his victory across the grassroots,” the communiqué stated.
The forum said it agreed with the resolution of party leaders that every member should jettison allegiance to other aspirants once the party produced a candidate, irrespective of the constitutional mode of choice.
While commending party leaders for ensuring a peaceful primary in the state, the forum urged them to bring all aggrieved members together for the success of the party.
According to the forum, indications showed that the electorate was yearning for the return of the APC to power in the state, but members must shun divisive tendencies.
The forum commended President Bola Tinubu, the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the national leader of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, for their continued support for the party.
It also said the contributions of the National Secretary of the party, Sen. Ajibola Basiru, the Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, the leader of the APC elders’ forum, Pa Sola Akinwunmi, and other party leaders in the state could not be overemphasised.
