The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has declared that the over 2.5 million votes expected from the state in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming elections are already secured, describing them as a “fixed deposit” that remains non-negotiable.

Governor Okpebholo made the statement while receiving a delegation of a support group at his country home in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.

The group had visited the governor to present visibility and publicity materials, including branded wrappers, shirts and other items, as part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for the re-election of President Tinubu.

Commending the initiative, the governor praised the group’s commitment and noted that their gesture reflected growing appreciation among Edo residents for the policies and programmes of the Federal Government.

He stressed that such voluntary contributions demonstrate confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu.

“We commend our brother here who brought these donations to support our President because he is happy with what the President is doing for Edo people. For this reason, they are already making contributions,” Governor Okpebholo stated while acknowledging the materials presented to the state chapter of the ruling party.

The governor added that the gesture reinforces the political resolve of the people of Edo State ahead of the elections. “That means our 2.5 million votes are already in a fixed deposit. It is not negotiable. We are happy to receive these items and we are grateful. The President will also be informed about this show of support,” he said.

The initiator of the project, Engineer Uwadiale Oziegbe, told journalists that the donation was inspired by the developmental strides of the governor in Edo State. He added that more campaign materials would be provided in the coming months.

“This is a strategic show of support for the 2027 presidential election through our amiable governor. We have seen the massive development taking place in our state, so the best we can do is to support the governor,” he said.

The donated visibility materials include T-shirts, face caps and vests, all customised with the party’s logo.
