The Edo State pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise has arrived safely in Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking the commencement of the spiritual journey for the 95 intending pilgrims from the state.

The pilgrims, comprising 45 females and 50 males, were conveyed aboard by Air Peace, aircraft number -P47938 alongside pilgrims from the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The flight departed Lagos on Tuesday, 19th of May 2026, at about 1:00 p.m. and arrived Madinah after a smooth journey.

Leading the Edo contingent is the Amirul Hajj, HRH Mallam Ali D. Sulayman, Oghieaga of Ivbies accompanied by the leadership of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board headed by the Chairman, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, and the Executive Secretary, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir.

HRH, Mallam Ali D Sulayman said, “We thank Allah for a safe trip. Let us maintain the peace that we started from Nigeria so that Allah will grant us Hajj Mabrur”

The board expressed gratitude to Allah for the safe arrival of the pilgrims and commended the peaceful conduct of the intending pilgrims throughout the journey.

They also urged the pilgrims to remain good ambassadors of Edo State and Nigeria by adhering strictly to the rules guiding the Hajj exercise and dedicating themselves to prayers for the state and the nation.

The arrival of the Edo pilgrims in Madinah signals the beginning of preparations for the major Hajj rites expected to take place in Makkah in the coming days.
