‎South Korea’s Kim Gaon defeated Netherlands’ Milo de Boer in the Men’s Singles Round of 16 at the ongoing WTT Lagos Contender championship.
‎The championship is taking place at the Sir Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall inside the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
‎Kim secured a commanding 3-0 victory after winning the sets 11-9, 12-10, 11-8 and 13-11 to reach the quarter-finals.
‎Also, South Korea’s Lim Jonghoon continued his strong performance with victory over Nigeria’s Olajide Omotayo.
‎Jonghoon defeated Omotayo in straight sets, winning 11-9, 11-3 and 11-8 to complete another 3-0 triumph.
‎In the Women’s Singles Round of 16, Japan’s Satsuki Odo overwhelmed Nigeria’s Bose Odusanya in straight sets.
‎Odo, a right-handed player, dominated the contest with scores of 11-5, 11-2 and 11-3 to record a comfortable 3-0 victory.
‎Portugal’s Jieni Shao also advanced after defeating India’s Sutirtha Mukherjee in another women’s singles encounter.
‎Shao, a left-handed player, claimed the match 3-0 after posting set scores of 11-8, 11-5 and 11-6.
‎In the Men’s Doubles Round of 16, India’s Thakker Manav and Manush Shah defeated Nigeria’s AbdulFatai Abdulbasit and Matthew Fabunmi.
‎The Indian pair dominated the encounter, taking the sets 11-9, 11-5 and 11-5 to qualify for the quarter-finals.
‎The championship has attracted highly rated players from several countries, producing competitive matches across singles and doubles categories.
