The 2026 Edo State pilgrims have departed the holy city of Madinah for Makkah to commence the sacred rites of Umrah, marking a significant phase in their spiritual journey ahead of the main Hajj exercise.

The pilgrims are expected to enter into the state of ihram at the designated miqaat known as Dhul Hulayfah, also called Abyar Ali, where they would prepare spiritually and physically for the performance of Umrah.

Before their departure, Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, addressed the pilgrims and urged them to remain orderly, vigilant and attentive throughout the journey, particularly at the miqaat, a convergence point for thousands of pilgrims from across the world.

He cautioned the intending pilgrims to properly identify the buses conveying them in order to avoid confusion or being stranded after observing the required rites at the designated location.

“Please, the whole world is using that place called miqaat, not only Nigeria. Please mark the bus that you enter. As you are stepping down from the bus, take the number of the bus and note where it is parked. That is exactly where it will remain waiting for you,” Uduimoh advised.

“The bus will not change location. Also, take note of the entrance to the miqaat. There are many similar buses around there, more than 100,” he added.

The board chairman further urged the pilgrims to remain patient, prayerful and law-abiding throughout the spiritual exercise, stressing that discipline, coordination and strict adherence to laid-down instructions would ensure a seamless and successful journey to Makkah.

The pilgrims, who appeared enthusiastic and spiritually motivated, were seen departing Madinah in high spirits as they prepared to undertake the sacred rites of Umrah before the commencement of the major Hajj activities.
