Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes assisted United’s first goal on Sunday against Brighton & Hove Albion to break the premier league assist record.
‎Fernandes broke the record when Patrick Dorgu headed home his corner kick in the 32nd minute of United’s 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, marking Fernandez’s 21 assist of the season.
‎The record was jointly held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and ex- Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
‎They both bagged 20 Premier League assists in the 2002/23 and 2019/20 seasons respectively.
‎Fernandes had equalled the assist record when he assisted United’s third goal in their previous game against Nottingham Forest.
‎Manchester United scored two more goals through Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes to end their season with a 3-0 win away from home.
‎Speaking after the game, Fernandes said joining Henry and De Bruyne in the assist conversation was already special.
‎“It was already special being in their (Henry and De Bruyne) company.
‎“We are talking about two players that made the Premier League so great, and they were two of the greatest in the Premier League.”
‎The Portuguese playmaker ended the season with 21 assists and 9 goals, making it a total of 30 goal contribution for the Red Devils.
‎He was earlier named Premier League Player of the season
