‎Nigerian sprint star Favour Ofili is set to return to the prestigious Diamond League circuit on Wednesday, June 4, when she competes in the women’s 200 metres at the Rome leg of the series.
‎The 22-year-old, currently ranked world No. 8, will face a formidable field that includes reigning world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden of the United States, Olympic 200m champion Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, and British sprint ace Dina Asher-Smith.
‎Ofili has been absent from competitive action in recent weeks after her proposed switch of athletic allegiance to Turkey fell through.
‎She heads into the race with a season’s best time of 22.46 seconds, set in Gainesville, Florida last month.
‎The highly anticipated 200m race in the Italian capital is expected to deliver strong performances, with several of the world’s top sprinters lining up.
‎For Ofili, the event marks an important step in her build-up toward the major championships later in the season.
‎The Nigerian sensation will be looking to make a statement against the elite competition and improve on her current season’s best as she pushes for consistency on the international.
