Portuguese champions Benfica have agreed to meet with Nigerian officials this week after they turned down the call-up of Janet ‘Semenya’ Akekoromowei for next month’s U20 World Cup in Poland.
The Falconets have been training in Abuja ahead of the World Cup with coach Moses Aduku pushing for the release of Semenya for the tournament.
Aduku as well as representatives of the big striker will be part of this meeting after Benfica would have received a formal notice from the NFF.
‘Semenya’, who has been capped by Nigeria at U17 and Super Falcons levels, has been barnished to the Benfica B team since they received her official invitation for the World Cup.
