BENIN CITY — The Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) has constituted a five-member ad hoc committee to investigate allegations against its former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku.

The newly elected Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Yekini Idiaye Olayesin, announced the constitution of the committee while presiding over plenary in Benin City.

Idiaye said the committee was mandated to investigate the allegations against Agbebaku and submit its findings to the House.

He named Hon. Bright Iyamu, representing Orhionmwon South Constituency, as Chairman of the committee.

Other members include Hon. Sunday Aghedo, representing Ovia South-West; Hon. Donald Okogbe, representing Akoko-Edo I; and Hon. Addeh Isibor, representing Esan North-East, among others.

The Clerk of the House, Alhaji Yahaya Omogbai, was appointed Secretary of the committee.

The Speaker directed the committee to conclude its investigation and submit its report to the House within two weeks.

Meanwhile, the House also confirmed and approved the appointment of Prof. David Osarumwense as a member of the Edo State Judicial Service Commission.

Similarly, the nomination of Hon. Aghedo Oscar Onaiwu as a member of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission was approved by the lawmakers.

The House also confirmed Dr. Shittu Shaibu as Chairman of the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission alongside four other members of the commission.
