TODAY, Edo State joins Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo’s family, friends, political associates, community leaders and well-wishers across the country to celebrate as he attains the age of 56.
FOR The Nigerian Observer, however, this is more than a birthday celebration. It is an opportunity to reflect on the journey of a man whose character, qualities and commitment to public service have continued to attract attention and goodwill beyond the boundaries of partisan politics.
GOVERNOR Okpebholo’s commitment to community development did not begin with his emergence as Governor of Edo State. His earlier involvement in community development, particularly among the Esan people, as well as his support for the Atalakpa security initiative, demonstrated a longstanding concern for the welfare, peace and security of his people.
His experience in the Senate and subsequent emergence as Governor have provided him with a broader platform to extend that commitment to the entire state. It is a responsibility he has embraced with a clear determination to contribute to the growth and development of Edo State.
AT 56, therefore, Governor Okpebholo has every reason to celebrate, having been entrusted with a platform to make indelible marks in the sands of time.
SINCE assuming office, the Governor has continued to demonstrate his commitment to the development of the state through initiatives and projects across various sectors. His administration’s focus on security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and other areas of human development reflects an understanding of the broad responsibilities of government.
FOR The Nigerian Observer, these efforts deserve commendation and encouragement. The task of governance is enormous, and every meaningful step towards improving the lives of the people deserves the collective support of all stakeholders.
WE believe that the progress recorded so far will further inspire the administration to consolidate its achievements and pursue even greater milestones in the years ahead. Edo people expect nothing less than a government that continues to provide opportunities, improve infrastructure, strengthen security and create an environment in which citizens can live and prosper.
GOVERNOR Okpebholo also has the opportunity to continue building bridges across political, ethnic and social divides. Edo State is a diverse society, and a leadership that promotes unity, inclusion and a shared sense of purpose will undoubtedly strengthen the foundation for sustainable development.
THE Governor’s experience in community leadership, legislative service and now executive governance places him in a unique position to deepen the development agenda of the state. The years ahead therefore offer an opportunity to consolidate the gains already made and lay the foundation for an even more prosperous Edo State.
AT 56, the Governor stands at an important point in his journey of public service. With the goodwill of the people and the support of stakeholders, there is still much more that can be achieved.
THE years ahead should be devoted to further strengthening the foundations of development, expanding opportunities for the people and creating enduring institutions that will continue to serve Edo State. Such achievements will constitute a lasting legacy and further define his place in the history of the state.
[08:04, 8/28/2026] Andy Egbon Editor: FOR The Nigerian Observer, the best way to celebrate this milestone is to reaffirm our confidence in the Governor’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership and to encourage him to sustain the momentum of his administration.

MAY the years ahead bring even greater opportunities to advance the development of our dear state.
HAPPY 56th birthday, Your Excellency.
