‎The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II has commended Nigerian Police for the good work in ensuring the reduction of crime and criminality across Edo State and urged them to continue to sustain it

‎The Oba gave the commendation when the Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor paid a countesy visit to the Palace with other Senior Officers of the command

‎He specifically urged the police to remain professional and thorough in investigating communal crises while keeping crime rates low.

‎The Commissioner of Police CP Patrick Daaor, who was awed by the majestic presence of the great Oba of Benin, thanked the Oba for the great opportunity and for receiving him and his senior officers at the Palace

‎Recounting his knowledge through books of the Benin Kingdom and its ancestry, the Commissioner, who mopped his face with an handkerchief, acknowledged the contribution of Oba Ewuare and the primacy of the revered traditional ruler in strengthening the security architecture of with the support of other security agencies.

‎Enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP in 1994 and assuming office as Edo’s 51st Commissioner of Police in August 2026, the Benue State-born CP recounted how he had studied the rich history of the Benin Empire from primary school through his university days studying History and International Relations.

‎​”Permit me your Majesty if I am emotional here today. Before you, my mind flashes back to what I have read in books. Forgive me, Your Majesty. I am overwhelmed.

‎”I never thought that in my career or lifetime, I will stand before this throne,” CP Daaor said, while soliciting the royal father’s prayers and support in strengthening the state’s security architecture.

‎​Also visiting the palace, the newly deployed Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Corps Commander Prere Ezekiel Bedford, sought the royal father’s backing to help address operational challenges faced by personnel during rescues and emergencies.

‎​In their separate interviews with journalists, CP Patrick Daaor stated that he was overwhelmed with emotion while standing before the royal father.

‎Similarly, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Corps Commander Prere Ezekiel Bedford, paid tribute to the Oba, describing the encounter as a great pleasure.
