The Chairman of Bendel Insurance Football Club, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, has described his team’s impressive performance against Barau FC as highly commendable, expressing confidence that the Benin Arsenals are unstoppable this season.
Tenebe gave the commendation while speaking with sports journalists after the Matchday 7 encounter between the Benin Arsenals and Barau FC on Sunday evening in Benin City.
Bendel Insurance FC returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, thrashing Barau FC of Kano 4-1 in Matchday 7 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The convincing victory at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, brought Barau FC’s unbeaten run to an end.
The Benin Arsenals chairman said he was impressed with the team’s performance as the hosts produced a dominant display throughout the blockbuster encounter in front of their home supporters.
“Our opponents only managed to score one goal as a result of the penalty awarded against us. We have proven to the world that Insurance is a solid team, and we are serious contenders in the league,” Tenebe said.
“This is just the beginning. We are going to be getting good results because we have quality players who are good enough to win the league title for us.
“Let me commend the team, the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, and the coaching crew of Bendel Insurance for the great job they have done. They have been able to assemble a solid team.
“The next thing now is for us to start winning away matches. We are going to Lagos next to face Sporting Lagos, and we are getting results in the next two away matches.”
Tenebe also expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete against any side in the league, while calling for continued fair officiating.
“The Insurance team you saw just now, do you see them as a team anybody can stop? We are only praying for fair officiating, like we have had so far this season. We pray it continues, then we can do it,” he enthused.
Bendel Insurance FC now have 12 points and sit fifth on the NPFL table following their 4-1 victory over Barau FC.
The Benin Arsenals will be on the road to Lagos for their Matchday 8 fixture against Sporting Lagos.
