Ghana is reportedly at risk of losing the hosting rights for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, with Egypt and Morocco emerging as potential replacements.
Ghana was awarded the hosting rights for the continental youth competition in April 2025.
However, concerns have reportedly emerged over the country’s level of preparedness, particularly regarding stadium renovations and other necessary infrastructure.
The situation has reportedly prompted the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to consider alternative hosts should Ghana fail to meet the required standards ahead of the tournament.
Egypt and Morocco have been identified as potential replacements, given their experience in hosting major continental football competitions and the availability of established football infrastructure.
The 2027 edition of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations is expected to bring together some of the continent’s most promising young football talents, with participating nations competing for the continental title and opportunities to qualify for global youth competitions.
However, CAF has yet to officially announce any change of host, and Ghana’s hosting status remains subject to further developments regarding preparations for the tournament.
