LAGOS – The Associate Parish Priest of St Molumba and David Catholic Church, Lawanson, Rev Father Cajethan Odoh, has called for tolerance among Nigerians and prayed for peace in the country.
Odoh, delivering a sermon at a church service in Lagos,urged Nigerians, irrespective of their faith, to work together for peace and stability of the nation.
“You must be prepared to give up ideologies, abstain from the desires of self indulgence and give up hatred, strife, self seeking, condemnation and hypocrisy.
“If you shun selfishness and embrace selflessness, you will surely become one with God,” Odoh said.
The cleric, who prayed for peace in the country, urged Nigerians to always show love to one another.
“No nation can prosper and develop without love, tolerance and peace among its people.
“Nigerians should uphold the teachings of God and desist from committing evil acts that could incur the wrath of God,” he said.
Odoh called on Nigerians in position of authority to remember that power is given to them by God and it is temporary.
He urged the country’s leaders to make the best use of their positions for the establishment of a society free of injustice, corruption and other evil vices.
According to him, it is the duty of the government to protect the lives and property of its citizens.
He urged Christians to continue to pray for the country and those in power in accordance with the teachings of the Bible.
