The League Management Company (LMC) has sanctioned Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi and Coach Stanley Eguma of Dolphins for breaching the rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
In a statement on Friday by Harry Iwuala, LMC’s Special Projects Manager, the company said the decisions were reached on August 13 following a review of reports of Match Day 22.
It stated that Eguma was found guilty of “unfair criticisms’’ against the match referee and officials of Abia Warriors FC during a match.
The statement also noted that the coach failed to conduct himself in a professional manner, adding “an attitude the LMC noted the coach exhibited repeatedly in spite previous sanctions and warnings.’’
It stated that LMC ordered Eguma to pay a fine of N200, 000 in addition to a suspended two-match ban if he breached the rules in the ongoing 2014/15 league season.
“The LMC has placed him on a probationary sentence.
“This doubles the earlier sanction but he can choose to accept the ruling or elect to appear before a commission.
“He is expected to communicate his choice in writing to the LMC within 48 hours of the notice of summary jurisdiction.’’
Wikki Tourists are being sanctioned for the unruly conduct of their fans during and after the Match Day 22 fixture against Nasarawa United.
The fans allegedly threw some objects into the field of play.
The club was also sanctioned for harassing the team and stoning the vehicle of the visiting team.
The sanctions were derived from the provisions of Article B13.22 (disorder), B13.23 (violent supporters) and B15.16 (club liability for the conduct of its supporters).
“A fine of 500,000.00 and 100,000.00 will be paid as damages to Nasarawa United FC.
“Also, you will play your next home match Match Day 24 against Abia Warriors FC on August 19, 2015 behind closed doors. (i.e. in the absence of fans)”.
Also in the statement, Salihu Abubakar, LMC’s Chief Operating Officer, said the LMC was determined to enforce all aspects of the reforms initiated to build a league that would meet global standards.
“The LMC is eager to give optimum value to fans and commercial partners.
