BENIN CITY-A middle-aged man allegedly caught in the act of homosexuality has been beaten to death by unknown persons in Benin City.
Also, another man said to be the deceased ‘lover’ has been declared wanted by operatives of Edo police command.
It was gathered that the deceased Mr. Charles Iyobosa and the fleeing suspect identified as Mr Nosa Ikponmwen were caught having ‘sex’ in a hotel room (name withheld) in the state capital.
The abominable and criminal act occurred on Saturday, August 8, 2015.
The hotel management was said to have raised an alarm alleged that attracted passers-by who descended on the two ‘love birds’ as one graciously escaped.
It was reliably scooped that the hotel manager sold out his special guests to an intruder believed to have been on the trail of one of the illegal fun seekers.
Confirming the death of one of the alleged homosexuals, the Image Maker for Edo Police Command DSP Stephen Onwochei stated that he later died in an undisclosed hospital in Benin City.
He explained that a serious manhunt for the fleeing suspect and the killers of the deceased has begun.
He stated that no individual is allowed to take the law into his or her own hands.
DSP Onwochei however enjoined members of the public to come forth with useful information that would lead to the arrest of Mr Nosa Ikponmwen.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command has declared one Mr Nosa Ikponwmen wanted over alleged involvement in homosexual activities in Benin City.
A release signed by the Spokesman for the command DSP Stephen Onwochei stated that Mr Nosa Ikponmwen lured one Mr Charles Iyobosa to a hotel room in Benin City where they were caught engaging in homosexual act.
It further added that his partner in crime was killed by yet-to-be identified persons as Mr Nosa Ikponmwen fled.
The police release described the suspect as dark complexioned, tall, speaks Edo and English Languages fluently.
It however enjoined anyone with useful information that would lead to the arrest of Mr Nosa Ikponmwen to contact the State police headquarters or the nearest police station for a handsome reward.
It will be recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan last January signed a bill which criminalises same-sex relationships despite pressure from Western governments.
Under existing Nigerian federal law, sodomy is punishable by jail, but many Nigerians caught or suspected of engaging in it have been given jungle Justice since the law took effect.
