WARRI – Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company / Joint Venture and major player in the oil and gas sector, has said employment into the company is based on organisational requirements and business needs and not on the basis of age, colour,gender,race, ethnicity, religion or disability, stressing that, CNL is a an equal opportunity employer.

In a release signed by the CNL’s Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA),Mr. Esimaje .O.Brikinn , and made available to the Nigerian Observer last weekend , CNL , said, the Vocational Training Programme (VTP) was only a part of its social corporate responsibility
intended to help build the skills and capacity of VTP trainees in local communities in various oil and gas operations.

According to Brikinn, “Trainees spend a portion of their time in this programme attached to a CNL facility. The technical skills that the VTP trainees are equipped with, are transferable and therefore, the trainees are capable of contributing to the oil and gas industry and various other sectors of the Nigerian economy.

” Several of the VTP trainees have been able to get employment within the oil and gas industry.

“The VTP was never and is still not intended to serve as a pathway to employment in CNL for the VTP trainees” He stressed.

While emphasising that CNL has never made any commitment to the VTP trainees in this regard, Brikinn however, said, CNL will continue to encourage qualified person to apply to the company for employment , where there are vacancies .
