BENIN CITY- The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Wealth Creation, Cooperatives and Employment, Mr. J.U Edionwe has commended the Technical sub-committee to develop the Export Strategy document for their hard work and commitment to draft a frame work for the first general document on Export Strategy in Edo state.
Speaking during the presentation of the frame work draft to the Edo State Committee on Export Promotion in Benin City, the Permanent Secretary, who is the chairman of the state committee on Export Promotion, said this is the first general acknowledged work on Export strategy.
“This is the beginning of our collective commitment to drive the Export subsector of our state economy. All this while, we have been pushing forward and backward over the years and it has become a challenge and we are addressing that challenge squarely now”
“The State Committee on Export Promotion was put in place to sensitize the people of Edo State on Export activities with a view to promoting non oil export and to harness available exportable products and services through ways that would encourage value addition and youth employment,” he added
The Chairman of the sub- committee on Export strategy, Mr. J.U Edionwe had stated that his sub-committee was given a definite task to draft a report on Export Strategy and there was need to form a seven man Technical Sub-committee to develop the frame work by adding “Flesh to the skeleton”.
The Chairman of the Technical Sub-committee, Prof. Smart Nwokoro made a power point presentation of the draft report which included a number of recommendations on behalf of the committee for consideration in the final document.
The committee was also mandated to put finishing touches to the document and make necessary inputs In line with the goals, objectives, specified export initiatives, stakeholder’s engagement, funding of export activities and monitoring and evaluation.
