BENIN CITY -The heir apparent of the Enogieship position of Evbogho Village in Uhunwunde local government, Edo State, Osemwingie Bright, is on the run for his life, following the activities of his uncle, who is acting and holding the position for him,till he has come of age.
Bright,lost his father,Chief Osemwingie, who was the Enogie (King) of Evbogho Village, at a tender age He could not take over the position, which is hereditary.The kingmakers had to put the younger brother of the late Enogie to hold fort for Bright, till he has come of age, to take his position.
The uncle, Osemwingie Sunday, had problem with Bright, when Bright, after some years, told him that he has come of age and wants to start the initiation rites to become the Enogie, the uncle started harassing and threatening Bright.
It was reliably gathered that when Bright and the kingmakers told the uncle that it was time for him to assume the position, he bluntly told them to go to hell.
It was also gathered that Bright had to run to Benin City to start a new life.But after sometimes, he went back to the uncle and told him that he wants to sell so plots of land that he inherited from his father to start his musical business.
It was learnt that the uncle threatened to kill him if he sell the land. Bright, stubbornly took a buyer to one of the plots and they negotiated for the sale of the land.Report got to the uncle that Bright has taken someone to the plot of land.The uncle,sent palace guards,who went there with dangerous weapons,and gave Bright the beating of his life, inflicting him with matchete injuries on several parts of his bodies,he luckily escaped the attack and fled for his life.
It was also learnt that the uncle,Sunday have vowed to eliminate Bright,who is a threat to him in assuming the position of the Enogie.
As at the time of writing this report,the whereabout of Osemwingie Bright is unknown
