BENIN CITY – The people of Ologbo dukedom in ikpoba-okha local government Area of Edo State, have sent a Save-Our- Soul (SOS) to the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki and the oba of Benin ,Oba Ewuare 11, over the invasion of their community by suspected thugs led by chief Johnson Atseleghe, the Iyasere of warri kingdom.

Odionwere of Ologbo central community, Pa Osaigbovo Ogieayevbona said , Johnson Atseleghe with some unknown soldiers, the DPO Ologbo Police division and his thugs erected a signboard in the boundary between Edo and Delta states.

He said,” the next day a task force came from Government House and pulled down the signboard.

“It was after the signboard was pulled down that Johnson personally took his thugs with some unknown soldiers to pull down and burn the Oba of Benin signboard in Ologbo.

“After pulling down the oba’s signboard, they went into the community, beating up people and chasing traders away from the market which caused pandemonium in the community.

“Also they went to the Edo State government revenue checking point, drove the collectors away and burnt down the post.

Collaborating the statement of the Odionwere, a member of the revenue collectors, Peter Ase said the thugs came around 1.30 pm to attack them.

According to him , they came from the water side , and when I saw them I put a call to the DPO, before we have to run for our dear life, since there was no response from the Police to come to our rescue.

some of the thugs were carrying battle axe , while some were with gun and sticks.

An inside source from government house, who does not want his name mentioned , said , the directive to remove the sign Post erected by Johnson Atseleghe and his men was from the Edo State government , that it was not a directive from the Enogie or people of Ologbo.
