(ORHIONMWON) – The multiplier effects of the crisis that rocked the Edo State House of Assembly last year have remained unabated, with the killing of Pa Peter Emwinghare Ogieriakhi, father of Lucky Ogieriakhi, the official driver
to Hon Razaq Momoh by some persons suspected to be assassins
Pa Ogieriakhi was killed in Urhonigbe town in Orhionmwon Local Government Area when he could not produce his son, who, it was gathered had left Benin City to take refuge there in view of the 2015 general elections.
Lucky was said to have incurred the wrath of the assassins when he identified one of them during their invasion of Momoh’s residence on October 23, 2014 and for fear that he was going to expose them
During the invasion, they were said to be armed with dangerous weapons, including guns and battle axe to attack Momoh
Realising that one of them was recognised they attacked Lucky who later escaped with injury, while Momoh was said to have sustained injuries in the process, but was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
In a telephone interview, Lucky described the invaders as political hired killers who were after his master because of his defection to the opposition PDP, but however said he has been interrogated on the matter by the Police.
As at press time, the whereabouts of Lucky was unknown as he said he had gone into hiding for fear of been killed by his assailants
It would be recalled that some All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers in the Assembly had defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a development that triggered the crisis.
