…Church Members & Friends Cry Out

BENIN CITY – The excesses and authorities of the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity (ROF) has began unabated in Benin City. Inspite of repeated calls by some Pentecostal Churches and Non-governmental Organisations (NGO) in Benin recently for something to be done about their barbaric, nefarious and inhuman operations, yet they are still on rampage.
This time the story has been reported about an innocent young man, Amegor Osughe Osaro in his early forties, and eldest son of a family is now on the run for his dear life for daring to refuse initiation into the dreaded and deadly cult, on the orders of his own biological father.
According to an anonymous reliable family source who narrated the whole story to our correspondent, under strict confidentiality for fear of victimization said the issue actually started sometime ago this year, which later snowballed into the present crisis at the family house located in No.179, Siluko Road, Benin City.
The source said, the victim Amegor Osughe Osaro, whose father occupied a high sacred position in the Ogboni cult group, never knew all along that his father has already signed the oath of allegiance in the cult to also initiate himself, the eldest Son, when the time comes. On the 25,October, 2014, his father intimated him about the arrangement to prepare him for the initiation as the custom and tradition of the body entails.
The father told him that on no account should he refuse, saying that his refusal action would lead to using him as a sacrificial lamb for the deity of the cult, because he his father has already signed the treaty, when immediately Osaro was born. Not quite long, the ROF cult sent a delegates including his father to Amegor Osughe Osaro informing him to get ready for the official initiation proper.
But he replied them saying it was her grandmother who told him his father is a member and warned him strictly, that he should not belong and also he is a Christian and ardent believer of Christ, who strongly believes in the principle of “Thou shall not serve God and mammon together”. But the delegates who did not take kindly to his response, decided to restore to violence and other means.
However, on the same day October, 25, 2014, his father and his cult members sent another emissary to Osaro. This time fully armed with dangerous weapons and fettish materials to storm the Amegor family house for Osaro. They pounced on him, giving him the beating of his life, he managed to escape from them and was lucky as the gunshot fired at him, missed him narrowly, he escaped death by the whiskers. The second time is when they came to his work shop with sacrifices with a written note that they must kill him, he can’t hide according to his father and his members.
Unfortunately for the innocent Osaro, he ran to the Police station to complain and seek for protection. But getting there, the whole situation became very disappointing and worrisome, because even almost all the top hierarchy of the police, the military, top government officials and the judiciary in the society belong to the cult. And so, no where to hide, nor seek redress of any kind.
Another reliable source and friend of Amegor Osughe Osaro added that when Osaro discovered he was now hiding night and day, living in perpetual fear and that nothing he could do again, he began to reason a better option and alternative to save his life and decided to run away from the country and from the reach of the dreaded cult people.
The source concluded that since then till now, Osaro’s whereabout is unknown. He has never been sighted nor heard of anywhere. Whether the cultists eventually got him and killed him, nobody can tell. Because the dreaded cultists have earlier vowed to get him dead or alive, anywhere found in the country before now.
Meanwhile, the family and friends have appealed to all concerned authorities and Godly spirited people to please help in the search and protection of the innocent Amegor Osughe Osaro, whom they said is an easy going Christian that can never, hurt a fly.
Recently, the President of the young Pentecostal Pastor’s Movement (PPM), Evangelist Victor Osabuohien, who spoke with our correspondent, lamented in a release issued by their body last month, that the whole situation has become very worrisome and worse to human existence. He said that the most painful aspect of it all is such that, one has nowhere to complain to anymore nor seek redress anywhere.
The PPM release further stated that the rate at which their members, who are first sons of their fathers, have fallen victim of untimely death for refusing to be initiated into the so called fetish and blood sucking ROF cultists because of their positions in the family setting and faith in religion in recent time has become so alarmy. The PPM called on the Federal government to do something urgently to stop the sad and ugly trend.
