Oregbeni: There seems to be perceived calamity in Oregbeni Quarters in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State,on Valentines Day celebration as a young man in the quarters Mr. Courage Osaro Eguabor escaped death by an hair’s breath after almost being lynched by an irate mob of youths who accused him of engaging in homosexual acts with another man who fled from the scene as at the time the incident happened. The said Courage Osaro Eguabor has been on Police watch list for same offense reported against him by the Youths Leader of the community, Mr Smith Iyare, for this his family was then invited by the Police for questioning as he Courage Osaro Eguabor went into hiding,
According to eye witness accounts, the angry crowd of youths on a credible information break into the room where Courage and his lover were having ‘a good time, as a part of celebrating the February 14th 2021 lovers day and attacked the duo with clubs and planks. While Mr Courage’s lover managed to flee the scene, Mr courage was not so lucky as he was dragged out and severely beaten by the mob who were intent on burning him alive or handling him over to law enforcement agent, since his action was a criminal offence and also considered as an abominable act in the community.
Fortunately for Courage Eguabor who is bisexual, some other youths who are familiar with him stormed the scene and eventually rescued him from the mob
Some of the elders of the community who spoke with the men of Nigeria police narrated the ordeal and urge them to search for Courage and his lover who were caught in an abominable act that is against the culture and laws of the land, so it can serve as deterrent to other youths who are thinking of engaging in such act.
