IBADAN—Over one hundred DSS (Department of State Services) attacked the Soka, Ibadan private residence of Yoruba Rights Activist, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo. (aka Sunday Igboho) in the early hours of Thursday, July 1, 2021
His spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, who made the statement said that the house was attacked at about 1.00am on Thursday, alleging that the attackers were dressed in military uniforms and were over one hundred in numbers and came in about ten military vehicles.
He said that about two of occupants of the house were killed and several others injured,while vehicles parked in the compound and valuables properties were destroyed. Several of the cars and the walls of the house were riddled with bullets and blood stains were on the cars and walls of the house.
The spokesman also said that a close aide of the Yoruba Rights Activist, known as Lady ‘K’ and four occupants of the house were arrested and taken to unknown destination, while three of his aides, Ojo Isaka, Tajudeen Temitope Sadiku and Oluwatosin Fawaz escaped arrest, but Fawaz was fatally injured.
The spokesman said that Sunday Igboho was not at home when the armed soldiers invaded the house. He said that he his safe and sound.
Other sources alleged that he was at home when the attack happened, but he escaped along with the others.
It was gathered that the Thursday, July 1, 2021 attack, is coming just hours to a rally being organized in Lagos State for the secession of Yoruba Nation.
The Yoruba Rights Activist his agitating for a Yoruba Nation alleging injustice, worsening security and marginalization of the Yorubas in Nigeria.
Sunday Igboho and his members have several brushes with the law. They have being harassed and threatened by security operatives in the country to stop their agitation.
While the whereabouts of those arrested is unknown several other agitators have fled to safety
Meanwhile, authorities have reportedly placed all individuals who escaped from the raid on a police and security agencies’ watch list, intensifying efforts to track them down.
