A Benin-Lagos bound truck-laden with varieties of assorted fruits has reportedly been involved in a ghastly accident killing scores of persons.
The unfortunate event which occurred on June 8th 2013 was reported to have claimed 8 lives including a 10 years-old girl .
An eyewitness account who pleaded annonymity said the ghastly accident occured when the driver of the truck was driving towards Ofosu axis when all of a sudden the truck lost control and ran into a crowd of pedestrians.
It was gathered that the truck driver lost control while approaching the crowd as he was reported to be driving a truck without a registeration number enroute Lagos State .
The truck, according to another eyewitness account, lost control as it was gathered that the driver who was nowhere to be found during the ghastly accident started screaming ” make una comot for road my truck no get break, break don fail” while approaching the crowd of pedestrians.
Sympathizers were reported to be present at the accident scene making frantic efforts to rescue victims who were confirmed dead on the spot.
The 8 corpses were however deposited at a nearby mortuary while awaiting relatives and family members for identification.
Meanwhile, a statement released by the police stated that a truck transporting varieties of assorted fruits from Benin to Lagos route lost control and ran into a crowd of pedestrians killing scores of persons.
The statement further said that the yet-to-be identified driver whose identity is unconfirmed immediately disappeared and ran away.
The runway driver, according to the statement, was driving in an unregistered truck vehicle on June 8th,2013.
