Dangote Refinery has fired back at critics, dismissing claims by IPMAN and PETROAN that they can import Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at lower prices, alleging instead that rivals are importing low-quality fuels harmful to Nigerians’ health and vehicle longevity at risk.
Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, stated, “If anyone claims they can land PMS at a price cheaper than what we are selling, then they are importing substandard products.” He emphasized that Dangote Refinery prioritizes quality and transparency.
Chiejina explained that NNPC’s post-deregulation prices (N971/liter for ships, N990/liter for trucks) set the benchmark. Dangote Refinery sells at N960/liter for ships and N990/liter for trucks.
The company expressed concern over an international trading company’s plan to blend substandard products near the Dangote Refinery, undermining domestic refining growth.
“Dangote Refinery remains committed to providing affordable, high-quality petroleum products, creating jobs and driving economic growth,” Chiejina concluded.
