BENIN CITY – Many lives have been lost and multiple vehicles destroyed as a tanker belonging to F.C. Union Company, caused a multiple vehicular accident.
The auto crash occurred on October 6, 2015 when driver of the tanker, which was on top speed along Osuyi Hospital road, before Ikpoba Hill, lost control and the truck started ramming into different vehicles on the way destroying them and killing both the motorists and other occupants inside some of the vehicles.
Narrating how the accident happened to the The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, an eye-witness, who did not want his name mentioned, said the driver of the tanker was driving on a very dangerous speed when he suddenly lost control of the truck.
According to the eye-witness, “the tanker was on a high speed when the brake failed and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The truck was just swerving from one side of the road to the other smashing vehicles and killing the occupants inside some of them”.
Corroborating the story, another eye-witnes, who narrowly escaped being crushed to death by the tanker but refused to mentioned his name, said “the reckless driving by the tanker driver caused commotion in the area as many passers-by and residents in the area had to run to different directions for their safety”.
The NIGERIAN OBSERVER gathered that the tanker finally stopped when it collided with the near-by moat and before people could rush to the tanker it’s driver had already escaped.
When officers of the Nigerian Police arrived the scene of the accident, dead Bodie and injured persons were being taken to unknown hospitals by good-spirited people.
It was during the process of carrying out investigation on the accident that the police search inside the tanker and recovered the driver’s license that the driver’s name was discovered to be Idehen Osaro.
Due to the many lives lost and property destroy, the hit-and-run away driver, Idehen Osaro has been declared wanted by the Police.
As at the time of filling this report, whereabouts of the F.C Union Company tanker driver Idehen Osaro is not know.
The Police have issued a statement that any person with useful information that could lead to the arrest of Idehen Osaro, the driver of the ill-fated tanker should report at the nearest Police Station.
