BENIN CITY – Palpable confusion has enveloped Iheya community in Oredo Local Government Area of Benin City , as a 32- year old man, identified as Omoregie Uwagboe, has been gruesomely murdered by suspected thugs led by one Osagie Gabriel, a human trafficking agent who allegedly recruits innocent young girls for prostitution.
The NIGERIAN OBSERVER investigation reveals that trouble started for the late Omoregie Uwagboe, following the inability of his elder Sister, Loveth Uwagboe, who was earlier trafficked to Europe by her Sponsor to settle her bills.
The Sponsor, Osagie Gabriel , is reported to have allegedly specialise in trafficking young innocent girls from indigent backgrounds to Europe, enroute Libya through the Medtittarean sea for prostitution.
The NIGERIAN OBSERVER gathered that the gruesome murder of the deceased which occurred on April 7, 2019 followed the inability of 33 years old Loveth Uwagboe, after several fruitless efforts, to pay the agreed sum of money to her sponsor, for taking her to Europe .
A source in Iheya community who spoke to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER on condition of annonymity told our reporter that dangerously armed thugs in their numbers led by the aggrieved Osagie Gabriel came to the family house of Omoregie Uwagboe in Benin City , demanding payment of all monies used in taking his elder sister to Europe.
According to our source , Loveth Uwagboe was unable to pay up the human trafficking agent, within a specified period, all the monies demanded from her, owing to her Inability to get a lucrative job in Europe as she was not interested in prostitution.
It was further learnt that sometime last year, the late younger brother was earlier physically assaulted, when the human trafficking agent and his thugs called at the family house, threatening to kill anyone related to Loveth Uwagboe, over her failure to meet her obligations to her sponsor.
It was further gathered that the human trafficking agent and his gang, on April 7 2019, actually carried through their threats as they went after Omoregie Uwagboe , while armed with battle-axes and cultlasses with which they inflicted bodily injuries on him, leading to his sudden death.
Reports say that at the time of his death, the late Omoregie Uwagboe was the only surviving family member that Loveth had.
Meanwhile, The NIGERIAN OBSERVER reliably gathered that the notorious human trafficking agent, Osagie Gabriel and his gang who fled immediately after the gruesome murder of the deceased, have between ten to fifteen years experience, in their nefarious business of human trafficking in which they lure innocent young girls from indigent background into prostitution in European countries , on the pretext that better prospects of getting lucrative jobs exist abroad .
The human trafficking agent, it was also gathered, compelled his victims into subscribing to a fetish oath of secrecy and swearing process in an Ogboni ancestral shrine , using body parts including hair from the head, pubic region and nails taken from fingers and toes together with blood from an animal served to the gods .
The case of Loveth Uwagboe was said to have followed same ritual meant to cast a spell, demonically instil fear and the spirit of death in the victims, thus compelling them to pay questionable huge sums of money to their sponsors without resistance.
Confirmed reports in the community have however revealed that the human trafficking agent and his thugs who narrowly escaped being arrested , have vowed to also eliminate Loveth Uwagboe whenever and wherever she was seen around , as neighborurs confirmed that there have been reports of several death threats to the life of Loveth Uwagboe .
Meanwhile, a statement by the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police made available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER has indicated that it has commenced full scale investigation into the case of alleged murder of one Omoregie Uwagboe,32, by a wanted human trafficking agent identified as Osagie Gabriel owing to the inability of Loveth Uwagboe, elder sister of the deceased to pay him money for trafficking her to Europe.
The statement further added that efforts have been intensified to arrest the human trafficking agent and his gang members who perpetrated the henious incident of April 7, 2019, adding that anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of the fleeing suspects, should report to the nearest police station.
