KADUNA – Suspected Muslim fanatics on Sunday March 20th, 2022 attacked a congregation of Christian worshippers, who were in a fellowship at Abeokuta Street, Tundun Wada, and Southern Kaduna Local Government Area. Kaduna State, killing three of the worshippers and injuring several others.
Narrating the incident to our reporter, an eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told our reporter that the Muslim youths who came in about five motorcycles, full armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically in the air, descended on the helpless worshippers who were shelled shocked and scrambled to different directions. It was gathered that, some of the youths that escaped later regrouped, mobilized and launched a counter attack. The anger of the worshippers was further heightened when they learnt about the death of some of their friends in the attack.
The reprisal attacked resulted in the killing of two of the muslim fanatics.
It was further gathered that before security personnel came to restore normalcy, the Muslim youths had already fled. Police launched a manhunt for the christian worshippers and arrested three of them on the next day. The arrested youths were Mark Bichi, Etiosa Courage Ehioghae and George Obl. They were kept in detention and accused of instigating violence in the area. They were also accused of killing two Muslim youths and efforts to effect their bail were thwarted by some powerful muslims in the community.
It was also gathered that when they were eventually granted bail on Friday, 25th of March, after four days in detention, they were told to report daily to the police station. Three days after their release, Mark Bichi was murdered by unknown persons in his house as he was sleeping.
Before his death, Mark, Courage and Obi have been harassed and threatened several times.
Etiosa Courage Ehioghae and George Obi whereabout is unknown as they have fled for their lives, and they have been declared wanted by the police for jumping bail and murder.
