President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the high-level meeting of the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from November 28 to December 3, 2024.
According to a statement issued by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the event will follow this schedule:

November 28–30: Senior Officials Meeting (SOM)
December 2: Ministerial Meeting
December 3: Presidential Meeting

The Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission was established to strengthen bilateral ties and foster cooperation in critical areas such as defense and security, science and technology, education, culture, manufacturing, and energy.

This 11th session aims to:

Provide a framework for collaborative efforts to position Africa at the forefront of global political, social, and economic developments. Facilitate consultations between the governments and private sectors of both nations to promote trade and industry. Improve bilateral relations in technology, education, health, culture, youth, and sports.

Also, maximize the socio-economic potential of both countries for greater global competitiveness. Enhance peace, stability, and socio-economic integration across Africa.

Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, will head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ delegation at the Ministerial Meeting.

This session is expected to deepen Nigeria-South Africa relations and create pathways for economic and social development within both countries and across the continent.
