BENIN CITY – Secretary to Edo State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, has charged the new exco of Edo State Football Association to reposition soccer in the state.
Prof Ihonvbere was speaking in Government House while playing host to a delegation of Edo State Football Association (EFA) who came on a courtesy visit.
Expressing concern over Bendel insurance Football Club, and the need to change the face of football in Edo State, he however noted that with the wealth of experience and level of exposure, there is confidence in the new exco bringing about for reacting to changes in the sport.
The SSG equally remarked that issues regarding Bendel Insurance, ranging from mobility to the welfare of players will be looked into, just as he added that there will be need to attract corporate support towards the club.
Chairman, Edo State Football Association, Mr. Frank Ilaboya, said their visit was to acquaint the SSG with the new exco, intimate him with some of their activities and equally thank him for the support he has rendered so far. Mr. Ilaboya promised that his team is poised to bring football up to speed and take it to a whole new level in the state.
Meanwhile in a similar visit by the EFA exco to the ministry of Sports, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wesley Ediagbonya, promised to collaborate with EFA to ensure that they succeed in their endeavours, especially as they intend to take very serious steps on the issue of Bendel Insurance. He added that the ministry has embarked on measures to attract sponsorship for its program.
