THE Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Edo State branch, has decided to suspend its over seven months old strike for a period of one month.
This decision originated after due consultation with the National leadership of the union and the workers congress as well.
The strike was suspended to provide eminent persons and stakeholders the opportunity to prevail on Edo State Government to implement the autonomy of the Judiciary of Edo Sate with regard to recurrent expenditure and settle the outstanding seven months salaries of Judiciary workers.
This disclosure is contained in a letter addressed to Rev. Dr. David Ugolor, the Executive Director of African Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), and signed by Comrade Ekhator Hope, the Secretary of JUSUN, Edo State branch, which photocopies were made available to Weekend Observer.
Meanwhile, Rev. David Ugolor has on behalf of PEACE COMMITTEE expressed gratitude to the union and promised to kick start the mediation process in earnest and conclude negotiation with the Edo State Government within the shortest possible time.
