Local Governments in Edo are to share a total of N1,884,369.111.37billion allocation of which they have a mandatory expenditure #1,275, 665,917.

This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Forum of Heads of Service of Local Government Areas in Edo State, Barr. Tom Ebhotemen after the allocation meeting presided over by the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki held in Benin City Friday.

Barr. Ebhotemen, who is the Head of Service of Akoko Edo Local Government Area, hinted that the mandatory expenditure include the payment of teachers salaries, Local government pensioners, traditional Rulers, among others.

He explained further that the local governments are left with about #581million to be distributed among themselves, depending on the obligation of the respective local governments.

While saying that the local government have the responsibility over marriage registry, birth and death certificates, he said that the Governor, Godwin Obaseki advised them to be up and doing particularly to look inwards for means of internal revenue generation.
