BENIN CITY- The Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Francis Alimikhena representing Edo North Senatorial District over the weekend brought smiles to the people’s faces following the commissioning of several projects across the 6 local government areas in the senatorial district.
Commissioning the projects, senator Alimikhena said that he had promised the people during his electioneering campaign that whatever that belong to the people would be giving to them.
According to him, ”as from today, these projects are not for the senator but it all belongs to the people and should be guided jealously and protected against any vandalism as there would be some people who will never like anything good”.
Senator Alimikhena however appealed to the people who have not yet benefited to be patient saying that what he was doing was within 2016 constituency projects and that they are in phases hoping that with the signing of the 2017 constituency budget by the president Mohaamudu Buhari, more projects would be executed in other areas.
Before embarking on the commissioning, the senator who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Monica Alimilhena, APC leaders and supporters in the area had earlier visited HRH Alhaji Kadiri Imonikhe Omogbai, the Oghienene of Uzairue ,HRH Alhaji H A Momoh, Ikelebe III , the Otaru of Auchi, HRH Alhaji AYE Dirisu, the Okuokpellagbe of Okella the traditional rulers whose domain the projects are sited.
The royal fathers commended Senator Alimikhena for embarking on the people’s oriented-projects in their areas. They however assured the senator that the projects will be protected as their people would continue to support and enjoy the dividends of democracy brought to them by him.
On his part, the Onogie of Ughole-Ayuele, Chief Musa Adamu expressed gratitude to the senator saying that this is the first time that a senator is sitting project in his community since 1999.
He assured the senator that the project will be guided jealously while his people would give maximum support to his political endeavour
Senator Alimikhena has commissioned 30 out of the 34 projects so far executed; these include motorized borehole at Iyuku; Ikhabibge; Afokpella, Okpella; Okpekpe; Apana; Pa Micheal Imodu Istitute of Physical Education, Sabo; Omoghie ore, Okpella; Aibotse, Auchi; September, Okpella; 500KVA transformer at teachers college, Auchi; 500KVA transformer at Jattu; 500 KVA at Ewea Quarter,Agenebode Solar Street light at Igbe road. Auchi; Igiode; Agenebode Town; Solar power borehole in Idodo, Okpella; General Hospital Auchi ; cooperative House Aviele and Iyakpi, South Ibie; Block of 3 classroom in Epa Grammar School, Weppa; Iwiebu primary school, Iwiebu-Agenebode among others.
Highpoint of the event was the endorsement of senator Alimikhena for second team by the Nigerian Automobile and Technicians Association (NATA), mechanic site Auchi branch where a motorized borehole and public toilet were sunk and built respectively.
