WARRI – Local Council elections billed to hold this Saturday in the 25 local councils of Delta State appears to have taken off on a violent note as the Delta State Independent Electoral Office (DSIEC) ,Ughelli has been torched by yet to be identified hoodlums.
It was learnt from some locals that, the distribution of electoral materials was disrupted when some unknown gunmen invaded the secretarial and set it ablaze about 8:30am.
The source said the people scampered for safety as the hoodlums brandishing dangerous weapons, were ready to attack anyone .
According to the source, scores were injured during the attack including journalists who were at the secretarial to cover the distribution of election materials.
