Ugbokoda – Labour Party (LP) Chairmanship aspirant, Emmanuel Seyi Lebile has vowed to fast track development in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State if elected in the forthcoming council polls in the state.

The LP Chairmanship aspirant who made the vow on Thursday in a Chat with The Nigerian Observer, decried what he described as underdevelopment of Ilaje Local Government Council despite being an oil producing area.

Lebile said, “After consulting with key stakeholders in Ilaje, I decided to get involve and if elected i will implement the plans I have for the local government. The people are clamouring for electricity which will be my focus, and communities in the council lacks clean drinking water.

“People in the area still defecate in the open especially in the sea, rivers an dispose off their wastes in these water bodies that also serve as their source of water and it has brought about waterborne diseases”.

The LP aspirant also known as “The Reformer” who said he was inspired by the “Not Too Young To Run Bill recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, added that poor sanitary system has contributed to increasing malaria cases in the area.

“A lot of people have houses in these areas, especially Ugbokoda but they can not live there because of mosquitoes”.

Lebile, while calling on the people for their corporation to bring the “needed change” to Ilaje, solicited the support of members of his party for the sole chairmanship ticket.

He however disclosed plans to distribute educational materials to some primary and secondary schools as well as organize after-school lessons for the students in the area while on holidays.

Recall Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in February 2018 constituted the state’s independent electoral commission (ODIEC) in preparation for the conduct of local council election later in the year.
