BENIN CITY – As Muslims across the world celebrate Eid el Kabir, the Chairman Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs Alhaji Abdulazeez Igbinidu has congratulated the Muslim Umah on the occasion of the feast of sacrifice them observe the established Covid 19 protocols on public gatherings.
The chairman whose message was contained in a statement he personally signed admonished Muslims on the prevalence of the Corona Virus pandemic in the country of which Edo State is a part.
“The Government has recommended various measures to reduce the spread of the deadly disease. These measures include: physical and social distancing, use of face mask, regular hand washing with with soap and running water, as well as the use of hand sanitizer. As we celebrate we should not forget to adhere to these rules as they will enhance our safety and good health.
On behalf of the Executive members of Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs, I wish to congratulate the entire Muslim Ummah and to thank Almighty Allah for making it possible for us to be part of the celebration of this special occasion of, Eid al-Adha.
On the significance of the festival of sacrifice in commemoration of the complete obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to Almighty Allah, Alhaji Igbinidu noted hat Prophet Ibrahim was resolute in carrying out the commandment of Allah to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as commanded by Allah hence he and his household were able to avoid falling into the temptation of the Shaytan (the devil) who wanted them to disobey Allah.
He said that Allah provided Ibrahim with a ram for the sacrifice which confirmed that Allah only used the event to put Prophet Ibrahim’s faith to test as revealed in Quran 37 (As-Saaffat) vs. 102-107. He prayed Allah to continue to make it possible for Muslims to overcome the temptation of the devil at all time,
Speaking on the campaign for the fort coming gubernatorial election in Edo State scheduled for September 19, 2020, the chairman advised those who are directly involved in the campaign to avoid using inflammatory remarks and indulging in negative acts that can lead to break down of laws and order.
“We should canvass support with the fear of Allah in our heart and vote for candidates of our choice without instigating violence. We should pray for free, fair and violence free election.
