BENIN CITY- Momentary Jubilant crowd took over Oba Ovuramwen square also known as ring road and other major roads in Benin City, yesterday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of the 2020 Edo gubernatorial election, conducted weekend.

The carnival of a sort resorted to a gridlock as pedestrians and motorists mostly of whom were travellers passing through the city alighted from their various vehicles as they danced to the admiration of all.

A truck loaded with musical instruments powered by a generating set, and handled with an experienced DJ hit the crowd with danceable latest Nigeria vibes.

Some women who were among the joyous crowd rubbed white powder on their heads down to their shoulders said the election results as declared by INEC momentarily moved them to the street to express their satisfaction.

“I am a retiree, I voted for Obaseki and my vote counted. We left our houses to go and dance to the governor when we met this celebration here at ring road.

“Obaseki and Shaibu will not disappoint us in their second tenure.

“I am particularly happy because my tomorrow is sure”. One madam Alice Otasowie stated.

The crowd also lauded efforts of INEC and security agencies at ensuring a seamless and credible election.
