BENIN CITY – A Benin based Socio-cultural group, Oya ya simwin evbuomwan, has joined millions of Edo indigines both at home and in the diaspora to celebrate the landslide victory of the incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon Philip Shaibu in the just concluded September 19 governorship election in the state.

In a statement jointly signed on behalf of the executive and members by the chairman, Mr Efosa Aguebor Isaac Omokare and Secretary, Isaac Omokaro, the group expressed appreciation to the good people of the state, who massively demonstrated their unflinching love and support, which culminated in the resounding victory, despite frantic efforts by some politicians to frustrate the electioneering process.

They recalled how their group built a formidable synergy with the governor and his deputy during the electioneering campaign to the 192 wards across the state, soliciting the people’s support to enable the governor consolidate his achievement which had been recorder for the past four years.

The chairman who congratulated Gov. Obaseki and his deputy, Rt.Hon Shaibu on their re-election, also recalled how the media in the state facilitated the support of the people towards the re-election bid of the governor and his deputy, saying the pragmatic roles played by the media were responsible for the peaceful mobilization of the people to exercise their franchise in the election.

They added that his executive and members were extremely grateful to the people of the state, while assuming that the second tenure of Gov. Obaseki will not be regretted in terms of development in the state.
