ABUJA – The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has sent condolences to the family of former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Delta State, Dafe Akpedeye, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
Akpedeye served as Attorney-General and Commission for Justice in Delta State from 2007 to 2009.
In his condolence message to the family, Senator Omo-Agege described the deceased as one of the shinning lights of the state in the legal profession, adding that his law practice spanned across litigation, corporate law, arbitration, and mediation, oil and gas among others.
According to Omo-Agege, despite Akpedeye’s relatively short time as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, he left an indelible mark as the state’s chief law officer.
“The news of the demise of Dafe Akpedeye, SAN came to me as a rude shock and a surprise. The UK-qualified Chartered Arbitrator and CEDR Certified Mediator distinguished himself as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Delta State.
“His immense contributions to the development of the state and country will remain evergreen in our hearts.
“It was to his credit that as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, the first edition of the Annotated Laws of Delta State was drafted and published – the first of its kind in the West African region”, the senator said.
While extending his condolences to the government and people of the state and praying to the Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest, the Deputy President of the Senate called on Nigerians to remember his family in their prayers at these trying moments.
