BENIN-CITY – The Permanent Secretary, Edo Sate Ministry of Infrastructure, Engr. Ferguson Enabulele has expressed government readiness and passion for youths empowerment and development across the state.

Speaking when members and the National President of Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCIN), Mr. Abiola Olorunsola paid him a courtesy visit in Benin City, the Permanent Secretary said that the State government holds youth development very dear in its agenda.

According to him, several youths have been trained on different aspects of entrepreneurial skills to become self-dependent.

He thanked members of JCIN for the visit, assuring that the ministry would appoint a focal officer that will oversee the affairs of JCIN related matters in the ministry.

Giving an overview of JCIN frame work, Olorunsola, stated that the organisation is a non-profit, international, Non-Governmental Organisation of young people between 18-40 years, which aims to encourage young people to become active citizens of goodwill and understanding.

According to him, JCIN organises programmes annually where awards are given to outstanding youths as a way of motivating them towards becoming responsible citizens.

He noted that, using the JCIN framework, the organisation has been able to know and evaluate the kind of projects needed in communities that will be sustainable.

He said that the organisation looks forward to partnering with the state Government to organise leadership academy for Edo youths.
