LAGOS – A 13 year old boy is presently been detained by the Police in Edo State for allegedly murdering his 79 year old biological father while sleeping in Benin.
Authoritative source revealed that the alleged teenager has been having quarrel with his late father for long over the constant complains of his character by the deceased.
Source revealed that the deceased had at a time reported the son to the Police on the boy nefarious activities.
Confirming the arrest and detention of the boy, the PPRO Edo Police command, Kontongs Bello said, “The Police Command in Edo has arrested a 13-year-old boy after he allegedly murdered his 79 year old father”.
“Mr. Osariakhi Oronsaye, killed his father in his sleep on Sunday at Egbon Estate in Evbuotubu, Benin.
The deceased it was learnt had reported his son to the Evbuotubu Police Station recently when he was threatened but equally appealed to the Police to consider his age.
The PPRO said the command is waiting for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to commence action considering the boys age, but said investigations are ongoing.
He said, “I can confirm to you that the command is discussing with the DPP over the case. It is an unfortunate case. But we are also conducting our investigation to ensure that we unravel the case.
“The culprit is a minor, so we must be sure of what we are doing,” .
Bello noted that the minor status of the offender had made it imperative for the Command to liaise with the DPP.
