BENIN CITY – Months after temporarily re-locating to Dennis Osadebe Avenue near government House for its plenary session due to massive renovation work at the permanent site of the Anthony Enaharo’s Assembly complex at the Ring Road, Benin City, the lawmakers on Monday resumed sitting at the complex.
The resumption this Paper gathered may not be unconnected with the proposed presentation of the 2021 appropriation bill by the state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki stated for today Wednesday December 1st, 2021.
The Governor had in a statement by his media aide last week informed the public that His Excellency Governor Godwin Obaseki would on Monday this week present the state 2021 annual budget to the Edo State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the resumed plenary of the House on Monday at the Ring Road Complex, the speaker of the House, Rt. Hon.
Macus Onobun told Journalists that few months ago the House relocated to Dennis Osadebe Avenue near government House Benin City for its sittings to enable the state government carry out massive rehabilitation work at the Anthony Enaharo’s Assembly complex.
Months later, the speaker said, the renovation work had reached an advanced stage that would enable the lawmakers sit and perform their primary responsibility of making laws for the good governance of the state hence the resumed sitting at the complex.
Rt. Hon. Onobun further stated that the return of the Honorable members to the complex for its plenary would not in any way harped the progress so far made in completing the remaining parts of the Assembly, complex especially offices that are yet to reach its 100 percent completion, adding that within the next few weeks the entire complex would be fully ready with modern facilities for a conducive legislative assignments.
A visit by The NIGERIAN OBSERVER to the Assembly complex on Monday revealed that the Hallowed chambers of the complex and some offices were already 100 percent completed with modern furniture and fittings as well as electronic gadgets that would enhance the efficiency of the law makers during plenary.
While recoating of the main building is still in progress the inside offices were being transformed to meet with modern Assembly complex as obtained at the National Assembly and other civilized legislative chambers across the Globe.
