OKE-OROMA – The people of Oke-Oroma community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State have alerted the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, the state government and other relevant security agencies of a renewed planned attack by neighbouring Amagba community.

He therefore sued for their intervention before the matter degenerates to a frightening dimension.

In a statement, Secretary of Oke-Oroma community, Mr Monday Edo- Omogioruwa said that the community has gotten information that Amagba community has hired another set of mercenaries who are in a hideout in preparation to launch another attack on the people of Oke-Oroma and their property.

According to him, since March 17, 2012, Amagba community, with the connivance of Obagie N’ Evbosa and Obazagbon communities have at different times, with the aid of hired thugs launched attacks on Amagba community, killing armless members of Oke-Oroma with intent to forcefully takeover the community landed property.

These serial attacks, he said were reported to the various security agencies, some of which are still investigating the complains by Oke-Oroma.

Following the complains, Omorogiuwa said that the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Zone 5 made representatives of Oke-Oroma on the one hand and the other communities, on the other to sign a peace accord which was breached by the Amagba led communities.

The latest of the attacks, he added was on August 12, 2021, following which nine persons were arrested and detained, but have since been released.

According to him, their confessional statement led “to the arrest of one Joshua Edo from Obazagbon community who the thugs claimed to have ordered the attack.”
