… ‘As Mothers, We Cannot Standby And Watch Drug Abuse Consume Our Children’

LAGOS – Nigeria Governors’ Wives forum has Parley with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,( NDLEA) to fight drug abuse among the the youths in their respective States.

The women, under the umbrella body of Nigeria Governors’ Wives Forum vowed to adopt war against drug abuse as a flagship project to rescue the youths from increasing menace, saying “We are not willing to stand by as mothers and see our children consumed by this menace”.
They made the pledge during a meeting in Abuja with the Chairman of the NDLEA, Brig.Gen Bubs Mawa (rtd), asking the Agency to as a matter of urgency involve them as an ally in the fight against drug abuse.

They urged NDLEA to help build their capacities and that of their teams in their respective states to be effective partners in the task of waging a total war against the menace of drug abuse.

Responding, the NDLEA Boss thanked the women for rising up to the difficult task of war against drug abuse in Nigeria.

As Governors‘ wives, he charged them to team up with their husbands in the area of mobilising communities to reject the deadly phenomenon of drug abuse.

While appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari for being the number one fighter against drug abuse and for the provision of logistics to win the war, Marwa said he has instantly granted all the requests of the Governors‘ wives for capacity training and as an important ally in the fight against drug abuse.

The delegation of the Governors ‘ wives was led by their Chairperson and wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.
