Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt.Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has appealed to the Nigerian Society of Engineers((NSE),to monitor the activities of its members and flush out quacks from the engineering profession as a panacea to checkmate incessant building collapse in the country.

The Deputy Governor made the appeal, when he played host to members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Benin branch, at the Government House, Benin City.

He noted with dismay, the rate at which buildings collapse across the country has assumed a worrisome dimension, while citing the recent collapsed building in Ebutte Metta area of Lagos, attributing the unfortunate incident to quackery in the engineering profession.

According to Shaibu: “our Engineers should try as much as possible to emulate the professional expertise and competence of the founding father of Engineering profession in Nigeria, Late Engr. Aiwerioba, who positively uplifted the profession”.
