A young man ,Eghosa Uwagboe ,38,suspected to be a member of the Black-Axe Confraternity (Axe-men ) has reportedly been murdered by a rival cult members the Eiye confraternity in a reprisal attack led by a relative in a rival group at Egor market in Uselu ,Edo state.

The gruesome murder of Eghosa Uwagboe ,a revenue collector working for the state government at the Egor axis of Edo state occurred yesterday ,June 29th when he (revenue collector) was said to have been returning from his break period .

According to an eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity, Eghosa Uwagboe was returning from his break period where he had gone to have some food to eat and to immediately continue with the task of revenue collection when armed gang opened fire on him from a parked car killing him instantly.

The eyewitness further said that the armed gang suspected to be members of Eiye confraternity immediately came out from the parked car and walked to the corpse of the revenue collector whose head was violently torn open using a battle-axe in a brutal manner.

It was however gathered that the armed gang had been on the trail of the revenue collector for several weeks as confirmed report from family members said that some individuals mainly Eiye confraternity members had been parading the family house of the deceased revenue collector in Egor local government area before the attack. .

According to sources in the family,weeks before the gruesome murder, some armed gang had earlier stormed the family house demanding to know the whereabouts of Eghosa Uwagboe and his younger brother Osamudiamen Uwagboe .

The cultists claimed that the brothers who are both members of the Black-Axe confraternity and Marphite confraternity must pay with their lives for all their atrocities against members of the Eiye confraternity committed several years ago.

It was gathered that a rift between Eiye confraternity and members of the Black-Axe confraternity years ago led to severe casualties on the side of the Eiye confraternity members who threatened to eliminate every family members related to any member of the Black-Axe confraternity .

It was said that Egor axis and the entire market was partially deserted as traders and passersby scampered for safety at the sound of the gun shot which left many in panic.

Meanwhile, the corpse of the deceased revenue collector had been deposited at the local mortuary while the police are on the trail of the suspected cultists who threatened to eliminate all the family members of the revenue collector.

It will be recalled that the father of deceased revenue collector, Mr.Monday Uwagboe was also allegedly murdered by his relative in a controversial manner over family land dispute on May 30th,2003 .

According to family sources, the disputed family land which claimed the life of Mr.Monday Uwagboe is still unresolved till date as members of the immediate family of the deceased Monday Uwagboe have all abandoned the family house for the safety of their lives over what seemed like an unending family crisis designed to eternally consume every members of the late Monday Uwagboe’s family in the state and beyond as a result of the continued threats to life from their uncle who claimed the entire family land immediately after the death of Monday Uwagboe.

The late Monday Uwagboe until his death was survived by 5 wives and many children amongst whom are Eghosa Uwagboe, Osamudiamen Uwagboe ,Ivie Uwagboe, Prosper Uwagboe ,Derrick Uwagboe ,Sunny Uwagboe and Others.

It was gathered that Osamudiamen Uwagboe ,a member of the Marphite confraternity whose whereabouts remain unknown and other members of the Eiye confraternity who led the reprisal attacks on June 29th 2022 have all been declared wanted by the police .
