The National Youth Council of Nigeria , Edo State Chapter has finally resolved its lingering crises with the election of a new executive to pilot the affairs of the Council and give it a new breath of life.
The election which held at the Muhammed Buhari Auditorium, Supply and Transport Military barracks, Ugbowo in Benin City on Wednesday was keenly contested by twenty seven qualified candidates out of a total number of thirty seven applications received.
There were ninety accredited voters from across the various youth groups and local governments in the state. After casting their votes Comrade Sarah Igunbor of the Federation of Boys and Girls emerged winner with eighty four votes to become the elected Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter.
The Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Eguaboi Cynthia disclosed that eight candidates were disqualified for various reasons and three were absent from the total nominees screened for the election.
The Board of Trustees, BOT Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Hon Elizabeth Ativie and a former Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, Comrade Aliu Akokhia commended the delegates for their orderly behaviour during the voting exercise. Thereafter, the new executives were administered oaths of office by a Benin-based legal practitioner, Bright Erhauyi Esq.
